The Cascade Summoning
Interview

Biografie

Stuttgart-based classical guitarist Jonas Khalil first picks up the guitar at age 8, already being highly impressed by musicians such as The Beatles and esp. Michael Jackson. Only eleven years old he founds his first band writing little songs before his musical taste is shifting towards a more hard rocky approach (Aerosmith, Soundgarden - still some of his faves) before evolving into becoming part of the local Heavy Metal underground scene, caused by the music of bands like Metallica or Megadeth. Age 14 he decides to purchase a 4-track-taperecorder in order to let loose his creativity.

After graduating high-school he decides on focussing on the classical guitar, aiming for a place to study - he then begins his journey in Karlsruhe at the University of Music with Prof. Boris Bagger. Further studies lead him to Darmstadt with Prof. Olaf Van Gonnissen, Stuttgart with Prof. Johannes Monno and finally the famous Mozarteum Salzburg with Prof. Laura Young.

Apart from being a classical guitar soloist Jonas also performs in "Duo GaJo" with cellist Gabriel Faur (solo-cellist of the "Württembergisches Kammerorchester Heilbronn") and furthermore has been part of the orchestra in various theatrical productions like Bernstein´s "West Side Story", Berg´s "Wozzeck", The Who´s "Tommy" or recently in "The Barber of Seville" by Gioachino Rossini and Donizetti´s "Don Pasquale".

Still, there´s that other musical side of him - two heavy metal-bands allow him to live his passion for that style of music: his main band SACRED STEEL and the Death Metal-project MY DARKEST HATE. He´s been touring all over Europe and releasing albums worldwide since 2006.

If not on the road or occupied with the beloved six-string Jonas is most likely to be found on a local football (soccer...)-pitch or in a bar supporting his team Werder Bremen.
